Ohmicide and I are not getting along

I've read the manual, tweaked knobs, played around with presets, but still getting high pitched screechy results that give me a headache. I know there's potential behind this beast, I just can't seem to conquer it yet--and tutorials are almost nonexistent. Any tips or advice you could offer would be much appreciated, thank you.

Wet levels, horrible distortion is always because you are over doing it.More dry signal and less wet to beef the sound up overall = distortion bliss.

Yeah I'm startin to discover that, but then the effect is so subtle. Do u stack ohmicides?

depends man. ppls stack little bits of distortion all the time. and yes play with the dry/wet to get the perfect balance. parallel distortion is da bomb.

Don't use it 100% wet.

Depends don't it on the type of sound you want.I think camelphat is a much better distortion unit for beefing the sound up like i want but ohmicide is more than capable.
To be honest i don't really go for disgusting midrange bass so i don't feel the need to stack distortion units like that.I just add if i feel my sound design needs it.In a normal plugin chain i normally use two distortion units but normally one will be camelphat purely for beefing the sound up,not for adding overtones.

Ya I'm goin for that neurofunk evolving sound like a giant sand monster is moving all around--trying not to sound like an idiot here. Seven Lions is killin it with that type of sound

I used distortion on the reeses in the track in my sig, I used around 20% wet for most of them with also some distortion on the reverbs.

For neuro stuff you could also always automate the wet % and other stuff within ohmicide.

Oh cool I never thought of automating dry/wet, thanks man

Neuro b lines are all about the flanger/phaser combos as well as distortion. Most of the movement in them type of sounds come from mad filtering and the movement in the effects used.

Totally digging that track man, would love to see you extend the note and have it evolve and morph more. So ur automating ohmicide and/or camelphat dry/wet knob in here? I guess modulation on phaser/flanger is key also?

I'm exploring multiple lfos going on at the same time, but right now it sounds kinda jumbled

What are your guys' favorite distortion types in Ohmicide? That always seems to be the thing I have the trouble with the most in it.

definitely true, flangers work very really + phasers and notch filters on different parts of the effect chain are just as important.
id usually use distortion towards the end of the chain, or a notch filter.
ohmicide is good but i would personally use it on a more basic waveform, not something thats already distorted.

A little goes a long way, simple as that.

A good rule of thumb, for lots of effects, is set it to 20-30% Wet and go from there.

cool, so you use ohmicide at the end of a chain that has no distortion on it yet?

Less is more bro. And try to avoid any heavy distortion below 200-100hz, you can still distort of course but I find that most of the time it just makes it muddy , make use of the multibands and the compressor1

Lots of small contributions from different distortion plugs and algorithms equate to much better-sounding and clean distortion. Push it hard to find the general character you want, then wind it back to say 10-20%.
