John D & Zan Prevee - Red Moon EP
Sparsely rhythmic and thick with the duo of John D & Zan Prevee, both a consummate Greece insiders, comes with a new EP called "Red Moon" and provides a wonderfully lighthearted approach, who aren't afraid to have fun within a template of classic sounds. Nearly unintelligible beneath layers of obfuscating echo. The title cut, funky bassline in full effect, hints at the more progressive side of Greece's sound world generally.
"Benny Dawson" remix is a pretty damn accurate title, sonic trademarks methodically and leisurely, winding synth lines twirl and pirouette, vocoders mumble and each bar hits with an impressive force that's nonetheless gentle and caressing. His sanguine groove is alive and human.
Slamming bass is once again in play on "Dynamic Duo" version with blasting in-the-red synths taking things into stranger and stranger melodic climes. Short, sweet and simple, with a heaviness that leaves a lasting impression floor-filler, even on a record that's rife with them.
