Thread for vinyl rips (if you can prove you own the vinyl)?

Mods? What's the stance on this? If the links were kept to PM's or something, somebody posts a picture of them with the record or something, and if somebody has the rip, they can send it via PM?
Plenty of people on here that buy records but have nothing to play them on, etc. or in my case, old garage vinyls that are now beginning to sound like shit.
Yeah, so what's the rules on this?

My situation is that my copy of Tina Moore - Dem 2 with the Dem 2 remix on now sounds like shit, and I can't find a digital copy (thought it might be on at least 1 compilation), so wondering if anybody's got it if it's not released digitally.
Only issue I can see is that some labels (the vinyl only ones) might not particularly approve, and I can see their point tbf.

Sure there'll be some interesting point to why we can't do it. I'm against filesharing majorly, but I just want a backup really.
Can't see it being allowed though, too much potential for dodginess I guess.

IMO if you've got the record, and can prove it with a picture of it plus a bit of paper with your name I can't see a problem with it
I rip most of mine when I can, but it's so time consuming and it means I have to drag a turntable to my computer (which are on different floors) and then I start recording maybe five times before I get the settings just right for it. So it's been almost 45 minutes before I've recorded a whole tune.

Can't wait to see the kids claiming they own horror show with some random white label with 'DMZ002' written on it

lol why is it always me that gets the blame?
morally and legally it's fine in my book, but having a central place means that it's easier for non-legit owners to take the piss...

Yeah, I did think that, my idea was, you post a request in here with some sort of proof, if somebody's got it, they drop you a PM with a link (think Sendspace has the ability for the downloader to delete the file after it's been downloaded). This does away with those filesharing sites, I mentioned in another post that I download from these for records that I buy that don't come with a download code, because it's more convenient than ripping it, but also, I don't like giving these people more of a reason to fileshare in the first place.
ANYWAY. If somebody knows where I can get digital of Tina Moore - Nobody Better (Dem 2 Remix), then I'll just buy it and this thread can go away

Good point. For vinyl only releases, then I guess so, but if there's a digital release of the tune that you have the vinyl of, then I guess we could presume they got the digital legally. See, it's out of the box thinking from geniuses like Rayman that we need.

isn't this what happens with ROM's from old gameboy games?
i think its a grey area but iirc its not illegal to download it if you own the cart already
probably doesn't apply to music tho. would love a good quality rip of a few tunes i've got.

Have they passed the law in the UK yet that if you own the media in one format you can legally back it up in any format you like? If so, it's not illegal for music now.

Well i'd appreciate this as i have a few records i'd love to have ripped but dpn't have any means to do it myself, would be nice!
Edit: as soon as the both sides have the record, i think it's ok, i don't believe that people here would use this for pirating, etc.
