2012-07-27 - Mono Poly -Live- (Brainfeeder, Rodriguez Lopez Productions) @ Detour Asia, Mist Club - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
Who needs career advice when you’ve already convinced free-thinking spirits like Flying Lotus and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez? Like many of his Westcoast contemporaries, Los Angeles producer Mono/Poly crafts beats with face-melting bass – but in his case, there’s more to it. His versatile arrangements manage to outstrip the logics of multi-genre producing, connecting the dreamy and astral with heavy-hitting drum patterns you only learn from the school of hard knocks. After an EP on Faces and a full-length debut on Tasteful Licks, Brainfeeder released the acclaimed Manifestations EP, which was championed by the likes of Thom Yorke, Mary Anne Hobbs or Erykah Badu. His yet untitled sophomore album is slated for release in 2012 on Rodriguez-Lopez Productions, Brainfeeder’s funkiest Mono/Poly takes his astral beat wizardry to Malaysia.
