Skeem - Pushin It (Deep/Melodic)

Post by Skeemstep » Sat Nov 03, 2012 11:20 pm

I've been working on this song for quite a while now and I think it's nearing completion. I'm going to let it sit for a few days to get some fresh ears but I would love to get some feedback on anything you notice that I should change. I'm probably going to thin it out and cut down the time a little since it's nearly 8 minutes long. If you give me some feedback I'll be sure to return it. Thanks in advance!

Pretty cool. I like that weird jazzy horn synth allot
I think the snare could use some more punch, volume exe. also the drum patterns in general feel a little stiff and overly minimal imo.
I also feel that pads/strings could help add variety a few minutes in.
overall though, good stuff here. keep it up

Yeah I've had the snare down a bit so I could stay in a reasonable range and not end up clipping. Definitely gonna bring it in a bit more once I can go back and listen through the monitors. The drum pattern is extremely minimal, you're spot on about that, I'm gonna add in some hats and such to spice it up some more. Synths and pads will be a nice addition too, those are always the sounds that I have the most trouble creating. Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated, PM me anything you want some feedback on and I'll get back to you as soon as possible :W:

I like it, but the kick gets a bit too prominent after a while, maybe you cold try lowering the velocity on the other hits than the 1st, plus i reckon it could use a bit of sweeps/pads/general fx in the background that too contribues to that the track feels somewhat long.

nice minimal/oldschool/dark atmoephere. i think u should keep it minimal, but add some variations to the drums etc. the horn sound is comfortly creepy :) keep it going!

Yeah, it does sound pretty dry after a while so I'll add in some pads and such. I'm gonna let it sit for a few more days and then try out what you're saying about lowering the kick velocity. Sounds like a pretty good idea :D Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! Yeah the drums have almost no traditional hats (mostly just FX type stuff or vocal blips) so I'm going to add to them. I was trying to create some good contrast with the brighter sounding horn and darker sounding synths
