Ableton question
Is there a way to organize you're plugin collection in ableton's side browser? What I mean is when you have a lot of plugins they all appear in the standard folders (so if I want to use fm8 I have to open the native instruments browser to get to it.. or if I want to use one waves plugin I have to close NI open waves and scroll to that one). It isn't that big a deal but it can be annoying.
Is there a way to organize them the way you like? SAy I use fm8 and waves REQ a lot. Could I make those the top two plugins that show up?> Or is there a favorites feature?

Re: Ableton question
Yes. I don't know if this is exactly what you are looking for, but you can move the .dll files anywhere into any folders inside your main vst one for grouping/accessibility.
They don't need to be in any nested folders or anything, you can just have all of them show straight up like ableton's native devices are listed if you want. That would basically fix your problem of having to flip through different folders.
I did it that way but I wanted to separate my synths and effects so I just made a synth folder and an effects folder and put the .dlls into their respective place. It turned out really nicely, I have a list of all of my effects in a minimizable folder and after a little gap below I have a list of all my synths in a minimizable folder. If you wanted to you could have a folder with a name alphabetically before your other ones and it would show up right at the top, just put your favorite .dlls in that.

Re: Ableton question
I decided to quickly just put up pictures do describe what I'm talking about. I feel like your VST location is a complicated mess of files when it doesn't have to be.
Heres what it looks like inside the designated vst folder

Re: Ableton question
correct on that one, how it looks inside your computer is how it looks inside ableton's browser. Organize the vsts into folder and it will appear that way in ableton.neonmansion wrote:dll is for windows, no? because i use mac

Re: Ableton question
As far as I know, if they are in your main VST folder, Live will work fine.
