Purple chord progressions/scale?

Whassap all,

Working on a purple, reecey, melodic track right now, feeling inspired by Joker's new tune Old Era
check it here if you haven't heard it

Thing is, I don't really play the piano so it takes me a while to make decent sounding notation. Anyone know some purple sounding chord progressions or scales? I have this synth going F2, E2, A2 - E3, D3, C3, D3, F3, E3 ... but it sounds too dark. I like the uplifting feeling of Old Era and the notes Joker uses help convey the mood.

Honest question; What is a 'purple sounding chord progression'?? Never heard of it, and google doesn't seem to have either :/

Purple sound is detuned triangles

Purple chord progressions...anything you want them to be with that sound.

most purple stuff is just basic major/minor most of the time- look up some scales and play around and I'm sure you'll quickly find a nice hook

counterpoint also, just follow the rules and it will sound great

Read up on Jazz theory.

Or, basically any chords with major sevenths. Lots of pitch-wheel as well to bend up or down at the end of the note.

minor pentatonic scales + vintage/vintage-sounding synths

learning some funk/jazz licks on the keys might help you come up with ideas, "Purple" is all about having a powerful melody.

Map vibrato depth to modwheel then ramp it up every once in a while

Also map velocity and aftertouch to cut-off/res + key-tracking to make it more expressive.
