ath m50s or beyerdynamics 770 - 990

curious as to which are better for production and why, also when i take them out am i gonna be hearing what ive made..

Are you working in a loud environment or in a quite environment?
This will help you to decide if you want open or closed back headphones.
Beyerdynamics DT990 would be my suggestion in a studio.
Ppl seem to choose the ATH over 770s for mixing down.
But the 990 will outshine the ATH.

id say go beyer...even the 880 i think is a closed headphone thats good.
ultimately i recommend ultrasone pro 900's but their a bit pricey. my favorite though.

Get the Beyer 770's...closed. They sound really clear...flat response-wise(accurate) and they have a goooood bass response whereas the ATH m50s are high in treble...no bass at all...(friend has them, doesn't produce though)

sssShawnnn - do you have experience with other headphones?
I comment from experience not just because I like Beyers.
I like them for a reason.
Based on the question of which is better for production, I can't even see how you can compare 990 with M50.
Even just for listening, Beyerdynamics all the way.

I purchased some 990s recently and i have fallen in love with them. They're great for home use, and the sound quality and detail is unbeatable.
