So yeah have listened to quite a few songs over the past few months which have made me feel like they are a substitute for all human contact, ie armed with these songs, i wont need to actually be in contact with anyone anymore. Has anyone else ever got the same feeling, and if so with which songs? cheers
My songs were:
DMZ - Anti war Dub
Goth trad - Cut end
DMZ - I wait
Distance - Traffic

Sorry, this has the opposite effect of making me believe I'm all alone in this world, need human contact, & will never get it... Like a mannequin behind a glass pane in downtown Tokyo...

Burial is rainy, CITY music imo.
Can't bring it into context without human interaction.

actually, yes this was one of those special aspects of dubstep music. Before the front row massive came out and started to collectively orchestrate their hands to the proverbial drops. What happened to doing your own thing? I personally, at the high point of dubstep, went out to the parties to enjoy the tunes at sound system strength and I couldn't give two fucks about anyone else there. Could be me alone in the room.

Yeah… I’m just fascinated by rhythmic collectivity, whether it’s pleasurable or not – just people moving together, differently, in time. I just think there’s something very fundamental or basic that comes before any political affiliation, ideaological affiliation, almost underneath social categories, a basic model of what a collective is. Which is people coming together, joined by one thing, rhythm. And rhythm is a very abstract thing, it’s not just something that makes you move. The way I see it rhythm is something that joins things together.

I'm not sure why you included my post in that quote? Or if you speaking to me? Or just adding to your own post. because that Kode9 quote has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with what I said? I'm just not sure.
If Kode9 is interested in something, that is up to him.

I just thought, its the way in which i listen to music. I dont go out to clubs (too young), instead I sit there in alone in the dark, curtains drawn, lights of, and zone out to music on a Hi-Fi system.
Also, i forgot to include these songs:
Commix - Be True (Burial Remix)
Bloc Party - Where Is Home? (Burial remix)
PS thanks for all the replies guys, good to know the dubstepforum is still alive

^^^ exactly . eyes down. skanking in the dark. i used to dance with my eyes closed all the time at dubstep shows. there's nothing wrong with that. now it's not so easy . tho
