Can't believe I'm asking this: Is Sytrus better than FM8?

I hear nothing but major praise for FM8, but I've never even heard of FL Studio's Sytrus. Turns out, it's quite sick, and used frequently by Madeon and others. Seamless in this vid displays its power, and goes as far as to say Sytrus is better than FM8. Whatcha guys think?

Eh. I'm gonna respond with the typical "one isn't better than the other" response. Sytrust can do some things better tan FM8 and FM8 can do some things better than Sytrus. If I were producing in FL I'd use Sytrus only because it's integrated into FL.

I have yet to try FM8, but I know that Sytrus is a beast of a VST.

FM8 and Sytrus are both great.
I wouldn't compare the 2 though.
I also use Rhino which is also a FM synth with additional capabilities.
Between FM8 & Rhino I can create very different sounds with very similar settings.

fm8 has more effects, sytrus has a better modulation "scheme". You can import your own waves in sytrus, I dont think you can in fm8...Really what it comes down to is how much you learn the synth. If sytrus is better but you know fm8 better then fm8 is of more use to you.
If I had to choose, I`d take sytrus over fm8.

Define "better". I'd call it different, offering another sonic palette. Can Sytrus make all of the sounds FM8 can? No. Can FM8 make all of the sounds Sytrus can? No.

Well, Sytrus makes the same sounds... And it allows you to import your own waveforms. And probably two legs cheaper...

+ you have that option where you can add higher harmonics inside an osc without routing another osc to it like you have to do in fm8.
I'd say that if not better, sytrus is alot more worth the money than fm8.
FM8 costs 179€ btw, and FL Studio signature bundle that has sytrus costs 299$.
Updates for FM8 costs 69€, while FL Studio has lifetime free updates...

This. I use both om them and I feel like FM8 brings a better sound right out of the box, but I could see how some people feel the same way about sytrus. Its all personal taste.
Sytrus is easier for beginners I think, although FM8 has pretty much the same functionality once you learn to navigate it.
Its like arguing about if red or blue is better imo.

I haven't paid for any FM8 updates.
NI gives them free.
You are referring to the update from FM7 to 8.
I bought FM8 as part of Komplete.

theyre both good, sytrus sounds better in quality when using the oversampling option. also fm8 has a powerful XY pad for morphing 4 presets and you can fm the filter in fm8 which is nice, however sytrus has a lot more filters types in there & can use 3 in series or parallel to create any sound you can think of.

Yeah I'm not too concerned about onboard FX as I'm going to throw it right into Harmor and possibly Vocodex. I just want the sickest sounds right out of the matrix, and FM8 has not been panning out as I hoped for, probably due to me not putting as much time as I should. It's just so tempting to see Seamless in that vid tweak literally a few knobs in Sytrus and voila, there's a cool bass. Not that I'm lazy, but talk about fast workflow!

The only problem with sytrus is that you can't feed back the filters into the operators. Other than that, if it's FL studio you're using then it's a better choice I think.

I swear you can get it separately?
Tbf, I don't even use it, I really just dislike native instruments' products

Thats the only thing that could possibly make you pick FM8 over Sytrus.
