Hey guys,
I m building my first dubstep song. I m a guitarist singer and am new to dubstep producing.
I have two issues.
1: trying to make things fit toghther .
2: Making my music sound rich and thick.
I would love to have someone help me understand a few tricks here and there. I would be pleased to share my unfinished song to have some pointers.
Thanks in advance for the help .
Ho and i'm working with live 8 max.

Hey Cyber, try to make use of some bread and butter effects such as reverb, delay, chorus etc. These are primarily available on your Synth themselves without having to add effects on your mixer channel. I don't use live so trying to describe it as basic as possible. Things like reverb etc can really add some depth to your sounds, most of the time they have different settings as well as built in 'presets' that are already good. You can try messing with those to see if you like. Also get some quality headphones or monitors. Those help a lot.

well big plus u have some knowlege due to being a guitarist singer that will help in some areas def.
and for sure just post a link of ur song or upload if u have on soundclud. if its on ur post already i just cant see it at work right now will check back once at home.
i also work in live 8 witch is amazing! (cant wait for live 9!!)
i feel that ur 2 issues is def common i suffer from the same, but have got alot better latley from alot of practice!
1. fitting together.. what i feel helps me is getting a good drum and bass going then carfully placing in my elements usally thru my key board or midi pad to give it a live feel* get a good 8-16 bar loop(dont always have to tho). goal is to get that head bobin like ur listing to ur fav artist or song.remember to keep song in key. also will had little bits of reverb compression (side) eq to fit all aspects together
2. ^ like before little bits of reverb compression smal eq cuts/boosts. doubling up synths and bass and maybe pitching another up or down. also the saturator is an awsome effect. youtube has a bunch of ableton videos on how to warm up sounds and make fatter and richer

The kick/snare pattern is quite repetitive and ploddy, doesn't lend the tune much energy. You could try varying the pattern to give it more of a driving vibe and reduce the monotony.

main problem is the low sound of the growly bass thing during the lead. give it some more definition by increasing the volume, it's hard to help because we dunno which plugins you're using, but try adjusting some knobs to make it clearer and louder of course.
not bad for a beginner, good job

thanks Dustwyrm . I will do some work on the low end frequencies during the wobble . IS that what you are talking about ?
