im coming to new york (from nottingham, UK) that week for a holiday and wanted to go to a dubstep night. the thing is im only 20. will that definitely be a problem?

yes. all bars in ny city check for government ID (drivers card, military card, passport). it's very very rare that you won't get checked.

is there any way to get round it? like being put on the guestlist or something? coz im going with my mum to visit my auntie and thought id need at least one night out !

not really bro, because of new rules put into place this year there's massive fines if the police raided and found you in there underage. the law is if there is alcohol being served everyone in the premises must be over 21. a club's not going to let anyone slide these days. this is especially the case where this bar is located.

ohhh mang, thats crap ! i really wanted to get to a dubstep night to see what its like in new york. might try and steal my brothers driving lisence and use that.

Know what, when I came from the UK in 2002 I was 19, I got the drivers license of some guy who looked vaugely a little bit like me and used that. All that seemed to matter was that it had that EU flag thingy on it, worked a treat.

So yeah give that a go. Also my brother and his mates just came over and they're 18-19, one of them scanned his passport, shopped the DOB and said that his passport was the only ID he had and didn't want to carry it around with him... bait... but succesfull.

not anywhere near. astoria is in queens. orchard is lower east side. but pretty easy trip.
