Best dubstep scenes in America?

I'd have to assume NYC and LA, but you never know. Where's the best place for dark/weird music? I like all forms of EDM, but it seems people want more aggresive music and less of a traditional sound.

Yer. I moved out to LA in July this year. Since i've been here i've had the pleasure of seeing Digital Mystikz, Kode9, J:Kenzo, Distance, Tunnidge, Kahn
All brought here by SMOG. Huge shouts to them. Thats a lot of artists to say ive moved across the pond where most if not all the music that interests me is centralised. SMOG is great i just wish I knew more heads to go to these things being new to the country. Met a few people of here. Sound guys for sure just not the best place to get talking and getting to know people!
LA is a bit of a weird one tho in comparison to the UK. Clubs shut around 2am latest and its a pricey game if your gonna drink and get a taxi. Well especially for me so I end up driving to these thing 9 times out of 10
Also Sundays are weak for me man. Work Monday mornings means less intoxication for me but fuck it. Everyone blazes at SMOG, what with being California and all.. The place was ablaze for DMZ.
Got Julio Bashmore here in December too but thats a different set of people.

Saw you're from Cincinnati, if you're looking for quality Dubstep you don't have to go far. We've been hosting quality bassweight here in town since 2007, including Hatcha, Joe Nice, Seven, Cyrus, Antiserum and more. Send me a PM with your contact info and I'll keep you in touch with everything that we're doing and other good local shows.
Also regionally there are many good events in Columbus, Cleveland, Bowling Green, Dayton, Indy, Chicago, Detroit, Louisville, Pittsburgh, etc. If you're willing to travel a bit you can catch most of the US tours as they usually hit at least one of those cities.

in seattle:
http://seattlednb.net/standard-a-new-mu ... billiards/ (monthly multi-genre bass night)
http://churchofbass.org (always something weird and fun!)
http://dbfestival.com (once a year, huge festival)
there's more, but those are my favorites. most of the music nights up here are super mixed, you won't find a night of dungeon or any crap like that too often

i get that you mentioned there is more and that those were your favorites but dang a lil shout to the ONLY night in Seattle that has been 100% Dubstep dedicated for almost six years now would have been, at the very least, helpful to anyone wondering about american and or seattle dubstep as a whole.
...i get you though horses for courses. For those that are interested in the first and only night in Seattle completely dedicated to bringing dubstep in all styles and flavours every month check out :
http://www.facebook.com/ShiftDubstepSessions
Megalodon,Triage,Seven,Myself,Cotti,Tunnnidge,Emu are some guests i can think off the top of my head recently. As well as being one of the only nights booking new fresh local talent, giving kids a shot, and a very very varried lineup of your local favorites.
Unfortunatly Standard is looking for a new home right now, but great recomend for anyone into varied bass music with a lean into housier vibes.
imo, Seattle was holding it down for a while on the forefront of dubstep unfortunatly the big money promoters and kid raves have kinda taken over ,as well as some other stuggles, and imo we are less innovative and itegral to the whole of US dubstep then we were at one time. Seems like right now everyones on the varied sets, midtempo/glitch/moombah/dubstep/techno kinda shits....and lots and lots of Trap, perhaps people like that, me personally id much rather hear dungeon/dubstep than Trap or Bro.
in my experience SF and Denver are definitly representing Dubstep proper.

that's why this place is a community, so we can each share what we enjoy
big up
edit - dungeon over trap? probably depends on the tune, both of those incredibly tiny slices of micro genres have the potential for both excellence and extreme blandness

hehe totally fair. i was mostly joshin ya

couldnt let the crew go un-accounted for though bsp or not.
re trap....i did the whole southern rap thing in high school, feels to rehash to me and dungeon represents more of the vibes im into now and the vibes that got me into EDM so while both are kinda rehashes of old ideas one is waaay more apealing to me now than the other. (and im still stuck on semantics...how the fuck is trap not just subgenre, the whole new genre thing kills me, noone ever said progressive house wasnt house, neurofunk wasnt dnb, trap is just another form of dubstep to me that has vibes im less into than others....sorry for thread derailment as well lol)
