Faux Eden - Mayan Apocalypse [Dubstep/Garage]

Post by Faux Eden » Tue Dec 11, 2012 9:50 pm

Right, so this is a WIP and I would love some opinions on it, not really sure about the first part especially. It's not really the kind I usually create. Any and all constructive feedback greatly appreciated!

Reused some stuff from an old song I made which was god awful, waste not want not right?

not a fan of the intro. before 0.30.

then it gets nice and darkish, still the notes on that pad would be better sorted out.
Drop is mean. too much filter tho i think. Kick definitely needs to be meaner. deeper sub. i like what you did at 1.48 and after.
keep tweaking it

Thanks for the feedback, I agree that the kicks are weak, need to find new samples for them I think.
Not sure what you mean about filters, could you elaborate?

Definetely fixing the pads on the intro/outro aswell

wow man i liked it alot but i think the drop is quite messy freq wise. Very cool ideas though and i like the mood and theme of it! The kick sample feels kinda loose and overcompressed.

Kick sounds like it's distorting now, especially in the intro :?

you're right, not quite sure how to make it work other than eqing the intro, never been good at eqing drums for some reason, maybe it's just the choice of samples, I will look into it when I get home
