Whats the highest CPU usage you have gotten?

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 @ 3.2GHz (Pump died or I would kick it back to 3.8GHz)

Darn those reverb vsts -_- some things 50%-60% idle, and 90%+ while previewing..

Anyone sky lining 100%? ^__^

Not something I ever keep an eye on. My machine is quite old and can peak at 100% if I try and load a high intensity effect onto the master during playback, but it's not something I really pay much attention to.

Quad-core 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (shows as 8 virtual cores though)

I regularly max this out (Plug-in whore) so I've had to find ways to make my projects more efficient....

Mine goes up to 99% all the time. Pain in the ass to work with.. First thing I'm buying when I get money is a new computer

I only ever really get issues with large plugins crashing because of the large loads being put on the system.
It's never really cpu though, generally all the internal resources being used up.

Generally only with Kontakt or a few Instances of Guitar Rig.

FL studio has a cool feature called "Smart Disable". When a plug in isn't doing anything it shuts off like its not even loaded. Then it turns itself back on when you get to the spot in the song that its needed.

I'm sure you also know to use send channels whenever possible too. I'm running a 3rd generation Intel I-7 with 16GB Ram so I dont have many issues any more :halfstep rave:

Is this on by default? Never heard about it, if it's not on by default, I think I can save some serious CPU power when producing now D:

i7 2600K ~ 30-40% max when I turn it up to 11.

I generally have an idea of what the fuck I am doing, so maybe 50-60.

i7 2600k too, can generally max it quite easily, like full on unable to playback my track in real time.

The main culprits among others are the iZotope products for me, I generally use a lot of instances of Alloy and sometimes parts of Ozone on my channels - as these stack up, CPU usage goes through the roof.

Then if I put Ozone on the master to get a feel for how my track may sound when mastered, using the IRC3 Maximiser, everything can come to a standstill.

I end up bouncing or cleverly routing a lot of stuff to avoid this though. However sometimes my stupidly complex mixer routings can add to the CPU burden haha.

400% on this one project file that has at least a dozen instances of kontakt. i think it may be corrupt hehe.

my most recent project includes video and 30 instances of guitar rig, only hits 80%

AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.00 GHz:

Was FL Studio few times some VSTi's spike up to 100%

In Ableton the highest was aruon 70-80%. Nowdays it's rarely above 60%. I started heavily using samplers, so this really saves CPU. :D

3.4 GHz i7, 8 gigs of RAM. 30% with a heavily modulated and frequency splited (3 times, bussed.. then split again 3 times and bussed) neuro reece.

Usually it's somewhere around 10 - 15.

I5 with 4gbs of ram,

Early projects hit around 100%+ in ableton, i started using sends for my delays, freezing tracks, and routing around tracks to group effects and now on newer projects i hit 50-80%

i5 clocked at 3.6ghz. 6gb ram.

90% and up in places on finished tracks. If I start using unison in massive I will hit 70%ish on that alone.
I use sends for my reverbs.

Whats interesting is that I was hitting 100% on old smaller projects. I had to format and now the same projects do about 30%-40% on a fresh windows.

I don't know what the fuck you lot are doing to max out an I7. SP-1200s have a 10 second memory. Maxing out anything above a dual core is just sloppy usage of the vast, vast, VAST resources available to you IMO.

I use to max out all the time. I run i7 macbook pro 8gig of ram. Then I found out about Ableton and then audio loss issues from high CPU and track count, so I make an effort to keep it lower now. Usually a finished track rides around 55%

Go up to the tools menu and click Macros and then click "Smart disable for all plug ins"

Intel duo 2.94 ghz with 8 gigs of ram here.

I never even pay attention to my CPU usage till I have more than one convolution reverb running. I used to regularly reach 100 on finished projects before I changed my workflow and split composition and mixing into two seperate phases.

I explained how I sometimes can max out my i7... I can literally add an instance of iZotope Alloy and watch the CPU usage meter in FL jump up.
