More like Mala in Cuba
More like Mala in Cuba
I'm seriously diggin the sophisticated drum melodies that come with classical afro-cuban music and the bass that mala has brought.
Can anyone recommend any other producers/tunes that have elements of that in them

Wayfarer - Fall of the Zulu, the percs in that are so fucking intense, mixes really nicely with Mala - Ghost as well

That warfarer tune is fire!

TMSV has some seeerious percussion work. Check his remix of Show Babylon by Linval Thompson, second drop is naughty.

Oh boy, a negative review is coming. The best tracks on this album are the ones that are most derivative of Cuban ethnic music and least similar to Mala's dubstep background (e.g. "Como Como"). In other tracks, Mala's idea of a Cuban influence is adding some Latin-sounding percussion. I don't understand why this is so highly rated when most of the tracks come off as lazy and uneventful. Seems like Mala came up with perhaps 5 strong Cuban-based tracks, and then came up with an additional 1/2 hour of filler in order to turn it into an album.

Apparently Pinch & RSD are going to Nigeria to do a similar sort of project. Gonna be some amazing rhythms on that I'd imagine.

Mala is coming over on the 13th of January for a DJ Set. How much have his recent DJ sets been influenced by this mala in Cuba album? Not looking forward to hearing an hour of MIC tunes...
