I do agree with this.

However it does negate that independant labels that build up a style, identity and reliability are an important asset to music.

I wish the major labels would cease to exist to be honest, all they seem to do is suck money out of everyone they 'sign'. as well as that, pop music would disappear which considering the way pop music is these days, could only be a good thing. very few talented artists in the charts, too much terrible electro house and singing about how fly this beat is. looking at you Will.I.Am.

There'd be no underground if there was no overground :6:

The underground would become the overground, because with no major labels to treat music as a product, quality music would rise to the front.

Or the "underground" shit that sells the most (i.e repetitive 808 bland house) would rise to the front and we'd be moaning just as much until somebody came along and made something better and different but wasn't as popular.

fair point, just as much chance of something else becoming popular happening though

be honest. most of the self entitled ''heads'' wouldn't like anything if it gets too popular.

Don't think this is necessarily true. A lot of board members appreciate certain pop songs for what they are.

ehbes appreciates them a little too much tho
