With the vast diversity in electronic music, it is very difficult to create unique tunes. Its even harder to remain unique while having a consistent theme on an album or EP. I don't want to stick to just one genre or set of sounds, but I do want my work to have a recognizable flavor to it. For example, you can make a pretty good guess if a song you've never heard before is by Pearson Sound just by his style. I get frustrated because I can never commit to a sound and everything I make sounds very different. It also doesn't help that I dabble in half the electronic genres that exist.

Any tips from those who have overcome this problem?

Pearson sound is a good example. Top producers can have a huge variety in their tracks while not deviating from their signature sound. Take Mala, Distance, Skream, Coki for example. Just figure out what fit's you.

Unfortunately I've been spending the last 4 "years figuring it out"...

Just make songs, no matter what, they will always have your style in it.

I think as Toddla T says in this interview, the best way to make yourself unique is to try and integrate the music you grew up listening to into your music when you produce. That way, your music will be unique because nobody else would have listened to exactly the same repetoire of songs as you.

genres don't matter. whatever you make is gonna have "you" in it.
