Im using the built in HD Audio (realtek) on the back of my box for my headphones and switch to my PC speakers/sub on occasion.
Would it be possible to install another sound card (I have a PCI Creative Live! SB Gold in an anti-static bag)? Could I use that as dedicated for headphones or the desktop 2.1 speakers? I use Ableton Live 8 and FL Studio 10. More so FL Studio ATM.
I know Im supposed to drop a couple/few hundred on a legit audio processor with 4 in 4 out + extra stuff... down the road yes I would love to get good enough to require this gear, but for now as Im still very much new to this, would this work for the sake of convenience? Its a good sound card. Much older than my Realtek on board HD chip, but probably better.
Thanks!
Add Creative Live! card for second output?

It can be done but the Creative Live cards are not made for production.
