Sugarbytes Cyclop is....

Whaddup Wider Community,

Has anyone actually created ANYTHING good with Cyclop?

I'm a complete and total newbie to dubstep production; I'm playing around with a demo version of Cyclop right now.. and we all know that dubstep doesn't actually use wobbles any more, right?

Cyclop feels like a bit of a "Casio home keyboard" of dubstep

Is Cyclop worth spending any more time with, or am I being naive? Are there any Cyclop champions out there?

From what I've seen it looks a little shit tbf. Learning other, more versatile synths is a better option imo.

its got a couple thick sounding basses but its pretty lame in general. Interface is a gimmick. I wouldn't buy it

Are these guys taking the piss? Have they been focusing on the SNH for market research?

A horrible gimmick tool that doesn't even do what advertized. Almost certainly an exercise in trolling by Sugarbytes' part.

This is the second time you've said this statement. I'm not sure whether you're being sarcastic or serious.

Maybe you're confusing "wobbles" with what the actually are. In this case, LFO's are extremely alive and still being used for all kinds of music production. Just because a bass isn't 'wobbling' doesn't mean that LFOs aren't being used. I know sometimes I'm confusing but this quote you've stated, I don't understand.

He probably means like Skream 2005 bass wobbles vs. Skrillex 2013 wubwubyoi wobbles. :dunce:

Just took a look at it and seems very limiting. Im getting tired these companies jumping on the bandwagon and creating very mediocre products as a result. Dont get me wrong though sugarbytes is an amazing company with great products.

It's heavy as shit, and very weird workflow. I just use it for granular thing (vocoding abuse). FM8 can do similar stuffs, but colder and noisier.

Perhaps it's a theory which I'm popularizing based on my own observations :4:

With this synth they seem to have got so carried away with the interface that they forgot all about the sound quality. Which seems a bit strange, i would have thought the sound was a tiny bit important.

Also the interface takes up a lot of resources on a slow computer and the Space Invaders thing is pointless - i don't want to play games while writing a tune!

after 30 minutes of dicking around with it, I cannot for the life of me manage to get a clean INIT patch that doesn't have the obnoxious vibrato-y thing going on. To me, that's -10,000 points, particularly in the sound design department. This synth could have a buttload of potential but I feel like the gimmicky "Little Tikes 'My First Dubstep Synth'" qualities to it overshadow any cool features it has. Is it just me or can noone else get a totally static (as in no phase-y or vibrato-y stuff happening) INIT patch going?

I've messed around with it and I was not impressed at all. I've been learning synthesis for a while now so you'd think I'd be able to come up with a decent sounding patch but, nah didn't happen. I think they rack in decent cash from the same kind of kids that buy Dub Turbo and want to make dubstep NOW. Lol if anyone has made some decent sounds with it I would love to hear them!
