Sulky, sweet indie emo :'0

It's not even a guilty pleasure. Never has been. I fucking love it. THIS actually cured my musical anhedonia (couldn't enjoy music). My favorite emo bands were mostly the more lo-fi type with yelled or out of key vocals, but I still have a huge soft spot for the cheesy stuff. Was mostly a mid '90s thing (93 - 98). So none of the eyeliner wearing, skinny jeans, hate-myself stuff was emo or what I'm talking about :0

Edited cuz it looked like I was way too negative about this shit haha (I'm not)

Any otha fans? :0

This stuff is having a massive resurgence (probably from kids finding older guys on forums screaming "THIS ISN'T EMO" for the last 5 years). Similar screamo stuff as well seems pretty cool right now with all the local young punx.

Listened to the first track, meh, alright, just listen to Low instead tho surely?

Is it really having a resurgence? Didn't know at all. It was totally mah thang when I was 16 and I neglected it again since turning 19 or so. I don't think I'd like it much if there's a new wave of bands trying really hard to play that music again, tbh.

Low's cool, but doesn't hit this vibe to me.

American Football is the shit, but Joan of Arc is mah fav band out of the whole Cap'n Jazz thing.

Maybe we should just do a more general thread on all things emö!

Cheesy may not even be the right word for the stuff in this thread (though some of it is), definitely not with the negative connotations. More like melodramatic?

Jawbreaker was emo'ish but also very punk-pop.

Check the first tune in my second post, though. 'Perfect Shot' by Lync. Jawbreaker fans would be into dat :0

Cap'n Jazz is the only one out of these bands that I enjoy, the rest I find kind of meh. Was more into tr00 screamo and all that (pg. 99, Orchid, Funeral Diner, Circles Takes The Square, I Would Set Myself On Fire For You, Daitro, June Paik etc), but I got pretty bored of it.
