Help with production terms, vocabulary, etc. ?

First off I'd like to say, hello. I'm new to these forums and have been lurking around reading treads and stuff but recently decided to register. :t:

While reading threads here I noticed something... people were using terms, vocabulary, etc. that I was unfamiliar with and I couldn't understand what they were talking about.

Where can I learn the education part and stuff? For example I hear people talk about "synths" and "riffs" a lot in these forums and stuff but I don't know what they mean. I'm sure there are many other terms that I'm also unaware of. I want to start with educating myself about that kind of stuff so I know what I'm doing when producing. Also it would probably help me understand when I'm learning and watching/reading tutorials or getting tips from others.

I'm interested in starting to produce, but I'd like to know what I'm doing when I'm producing. It would be great if you guys could lead me in the right direction to learn these things quickly and accurately. Some kind of mentor would be nice, but I doubt anyone would be up for that. Anyways, help would be greatly appreciated. :4:

I'd like to mention I did look over the thread "---------> Huge Guide to Producing Dubstep! <---------" and was unable to find answers. Also I know there are different sections of these forums so I hope I've posted this in the correct place. *Forum noob* :6:
