Just out of curiosity, has anyone else read Steve Goodman (Kode9)'s book? He's a phD in Sound Philosophy and wrote this a while back
Real eye opener, content is amazing.

I read some / most of this text. It's in no way an easy read and feel's really disjointed. More like a selection of different writings than a whole piece. The common theme or lack thereof is at best vague, reminded me of poorly written william gibson book, but without a plot.
thats my opinion, it's a book I intend on coming back to in the future to see if my opinion changes but the whole concept seems wooly.
I did go to one of his talks at the south bank centre which was more entertaining, but that was more like a chat down the pub about some random shit to do with different uses of audio. Was much more digestible than the book.
For the record this came out not long after my degree so i was used to reading different kind of literature and text books.

have it, love it.
it's definetly no easy read, even less so when your native language isn't english but still, it's such an inspiring book.
it's not really about teaching facts but instead suggesting possibilities, giving you a few pointers and ideas and letting you toy with them yourself, leading to bursts of epiphania throughout reading the thing.
it's also not really made for reading start to finish, way better to read one chapter then let it sink in, then read another one or maybe read one again you've already read before to reflect on your thoughts.
sometimes it's a bit annoying how he spends pages basically replying to other authors, funnily remeniscent of forum arguments by the way, but apart from that i very much enjoyed this.
there's many ways to read this. one time you could take it very seriously and ponder about the relations to (your) reality, other times you could read it like a child reads cyberpunk stories, imagining these sonic fictions in your head.
