Lorenzo Senni did an album on eMego last year called Quantum Jelly which was a series of trance deconstructions. well worth a listen.

an album influenced by his love of "90s trance/hard-trance music and a growing interest in the musical structures and sound archetypes of these genres." What this amounts to is the Italian artist identifying generic characteristics - super-saw synth lines, ludicrous build-ups, instant-gratification melodies - and drawing attention to their strangeness through isolation and repetition.

Here in South Africa we have regular outdoor psytrance festivals, usually from saturday morning till sunday night, some going for 4 or more days. Multiple floors, intense lighting and huge rigs in tranquil locations like game reserves and mountain ranges. Very open drug dealing and taking, shitloads of mud, and thousands of people fuuuucked on acid/mushrooms/mdma/anything. They are good fun.
