Mix competion: 15 songs are selected by (jury? staff?)
Participants register (here on the forum) and get a link to a .rar with 320k -mp3s of the 15 songs
The 15 songs needs to be cleared by the owners (labels) first obviously, something i dont think should be a problem (this being DSF and all...) And if say, only tunes older than +6months are chosen (as example, BlackBox could approve the use of Killawatt & Thelem's "kaba" (released july 2012)
THE COMPETITION: Since everyone is using the same songs, will be interesting as the result will differ alot DJ from DJ. Points can be given for
- Track order
- Mixing
- Creativity
- Sound quality
- "Flow" / Conceptual whole
(As example, one DJ might mix live with vinyls, and get that "live" mixing feel with analogue feel and control of the faders/eq/FX whilst another one uses Ableton and get a more streamlined/focused mix but which sacrifices some of that "live" feel...Yet a third dude might use both type of techniques) all can be equally pleasing to listen to, but in very different ways.
The challenge for the DJs is to create a unique and cool mix using the same data (songs) as everyone else
The reward Im sure they would learn alot from each other while doing so, possibly drawing inspiration from the other mixes etc.....
The prize whatever fun thing you can come up with (apart from eternal glory and internetz fame)
anyway, sucky or nice idea?
