Then theres the one in the dodge & fuski tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbUvKhUYaWA that ive also heard in lotsa tracks that sounds absolutely nothing like the other one. Are they both reeses or is one of them not technically a reese? Thanks

Yes, both are reeses. There are lots of different sounds you can make with a reese bro. You'll develop an ear for em.

Yeah they're all reeses. Go check out the reese bass thread to hear how different the sounds can get and how people achieve that sound.
Sometimes you'll even hear distorted guitars that may turnout to be reeses!
Technically a reese is detuned saw waves, but nowadays it's more just used to describe detuned and distorted basses with lots of filter movement and stuff.

well he just said. generally an actual reese, by common definition, is at least 2 detuned saw waves. however, nowadays people use different waveforms than saw waves that may have more grit and harmonic content, in which they whack out of phase, and apply various effects and filter movement. so technically that isn't a reese, though it sounds similar. similarly, a hoover, is detuned square waves. but who gives a fuck what its called, its the sound your going for.

Unfortunately this post didn't help preventing your retard status.
Here I thought you were asking because you wanted to know how to make a reece.

That's not what he was saying, he was merely making an example on a situation where it could be potentially awkward not to be up to date with production terminology, doesn't have anything to do with his making or not making of reese basses and/or mental retardation.
Your inability to read between the lines and general eagerness to dish out insults and psychiatric diagnoses left and right on the other hand indicate that you are, if not a full retard then at least a total douchebag. On the other hand you're a really cool douchebag since you know what all the gnarly bass sounds are called. Big ups man.

Technically, the word stems from the track Reese - Just Want Another Chance.
But has swollen ridiculously from there. It used to mean two saw waves detuned from each other. It has later on grown to include anything and everything, because there's too many stoners amongst dubstep/DnB listeners/artists that just can't be arsed to label things correctly or find out where the word even stems from.

You seem to know me so well.
This has nothing to do with me saying you speak out of your ass in snh right?
Sorry but I say it like it is.
I admit I can be negative but the brain drain in here lately has been over the top.

Tbh you were probably right about that shit, I thought you guys were talking about actual dance music and not dubstep since the op wrote EDM, so it made sense to say that. I still think you're a fucking douchebag though, no more and no less and no thanks to that one post.
I'm just getting fed up with all the shit-tossing going on in here I guess. You're right that a lot of crap is getting posted and sure in some cases the flaming might be justified but a lot of the time people are just jumping on the hate-wagon without thinking first, often without even reading the OP. Like you did just now, you read a post, put little to no thought into what you just read and your brains default response is to hate on it even before you even processed what you read properly. I've been criticized of asking retarded questions in threads where I'm not even the OP, it's ridiculous. It's like people assume that everything that's written here is BS and the only reason they come here is to tell everyone else that they're wrong and if that's the case why do you even go on the boards anymore?
Okay, I guess you got to take a lot of shit there and I'm not directing this post to you personally, it's just that the state of the boards are a bit tiresome atm. I've been reading DSF since long before I registered and it's a fucking cesspit these days y'know. I can take a little flak, that's not the problem, but now it's like 1 out of every 10 posts is production related, the rest is just "rtfm gtfo m8 do u even compress" bullshit spamming. I guess I should just move on but deep down I'm a romantic man.

Your points are all valid besides the part about me being a douche.
I'm the furthest from a douche.
If you have been here for a while you'd know that is not true.
I have however just been inflammatory for which I don't apologise.
Surely at some point folks can realise they are messing this place up with a downward spiral of posts that have been answered 10000x.
Not to say my actions are necessarily called for as it is on par with the rest of the waste posts.
But you honestly can't say this thread isn't waste thread.
How, with all the reece threads on te first page alone could someone not know what reece sounds like?
