Safe ninjas, Ive been a bit of a lurker round this forum but am coming up from the shadows to ask you guys if there's much of a scene in paris? I'm moving there for 6 or 7 months and would really appreciate it if someone knew of good things going on. Saw Theo Parrish a few weeks back which was sick, but I'm looking for something more along the lines of dubstep, garage and dnb.

Also big up Pinup :Q: ! met him at one of my house parties in notts last year and he told me to post on here but I'm only just getting round to it lol

I was in Paris the last 5 years and left it last summer.
The main dubstep events I used to go to took place in Glazart (Cool & Deadly crew, now it's "Skank It Up" I think, that's where the Swamp81 party was and also where Gorgon Sound played).
La Machine du Moulin Rouge: many styles not only Dubstep (Ninja Tune anniversary party was held there). There is also Social Club where some dubstep parties used to take place, saw GLK there one, but I hate that place, bad vibes, bouncers. There are also places like La Maroquinerie or La Bellevilloise where there used to be some cool gigs. Cabaret Sauvage also is a good place for cool parties (saw Loefah there once and also Clown & Sunset label party). Le Point Ephemere (saw Mount Kimbie among others there, great venue, cool vibes).

And my favorite event is Dubstation, it's a monthly party that takes place usually in Trabendo (a very cool venue), it's about soundsystems, dub, UK dub, etc.

There are many other places I certainly forgot to mention but you can still check on facebook around those names.
Hope it helps. :t:

pretty much this. i've been in paris since september, in here for at least 4 years now

La Machine du Moulin Rouge is THE place at the moment. lots of UK & German names coming here, they have regular label nights as well. faltydl, illum sphere, surgeon, untold, emptyset, hackman, floating points, alex nut, pinch, peverelist, the black dog, paleman, south london ordnance, etc, are all playing there until the end of may.
definitely agree with Le Social Club too - they have a decent line up but it's a terrible place. i had the bouncer running after me once cause the cloakroom was compulsory and I had not left anything - he then tried to have me admitting I did it on purpose and that stuff was compulsory everywhere. individualistic atmosphere too - avoid.

another good place you should check out is Le Batofar - venue on a boat near Gare d'Austerlitz, with often very good names.
if you want some Parisian DJs, then I'd say your best bet is to follow the crews who set the nights at the aforementioned venues - Sonotown, Release The Groove, Exploration, ... they all have DJs who open the nights, but who also DJ on their own in smaller places - there are some awesome bars near Oberkampf that play that stuff for instance (I'm living in that part of Paris so I know of the things happening in here, there are probably other nights going on in other parts as well!). Near Gare d'Austerlitz as well...

Maybe you'll enjoy Social Club... just forgot to mention that there used to be two clubs with the name Social Club next to each other (I don't know if they merged or not), I saw Kode9 b2b Martyn in the other one once, it was good, but still not feeling the place.
For the record shops, if you are into reggae/dub stuff like me, the best shop in paris is Patate Records in Bastille.
Otherwise there is a small shop in Saint Michel, its name is Démocratie (in the basement) if I remember well. You can find some good records there if you're lucky (a friend of mine found DMZ012 there once).
For a more varied selection (not really dubstep), there is a shop named Crocodile in Jussieu.

There are certainly other shops in Paris if you look closely.

EDIT: Cocodisc in Jussieu.
