So I just got skreamizm volume 1 from chemical only to be disappointed that the holes in both records don't fit on my turntables. I have never had this with any of my other records. I can play them but it makes it very hard to mix as if I touch the vinyl it stops the whole platter. Any one have any tips on how to make the records easier to put on the platter and mix with.

Get a pencil, wrap it in some light grain sandpaper, run the pencil gently back and forth through the hole to gentle widen it.

I got Skreamizm 7 yday and had the same problem.. I used the end of my headphones that screw on to the headphone jack. Just stick it through and spin.

Although I'd go with the pencil and sandpaper if you have sandpaper, could damage the headphones eventually.

I just get a pair of small sharp scissors, and shave the hole whilst spinning the record. As long as you're careful to get it done evenly, it'll be fine.

it's much better that it is too small than wide...

too small = adjust the hole using 'half-a-pair' of scissors in the center hole (holding the record in hand), while turning the vinyl gently.
too wide = cut out small pieces of adhesive tape and place it on each inner side of the center hole until it fits the spindle.

if the record is convex/concave, I use a cutout from a slipmat, so it is only function as a ring, making sure that the record are in contact with the slipmat under the outer edge of the vinyl.

yeah half a scissor does the trick

it will soon loosen up.

Always wondered how this happens. How different can the spindles be? Happens to me fairly often on 1210s, the industry standard, would've thought this would get checked.

All my Tempa releases are like it.

Yeah, quite a few of my Tempa releases are too.

guess it's just a manufacturing issue, I've got a few 7" records with the big holes in the middle that are just a bit too small for the adaptor. I find it really hard to fix them because I end up shaving too much off one side and ruining the record

Oh man, I rarely get a 7 inch to fit an adaptor. Find myself putting the record on the deck and THEN putting the adaptor over the top of it, and making any adjustments.

This, even The Bugs Acid Ragga aren't right. Seems a lot more popular with 7"'s, think my only 12s with this problem are Tempa releases.

Thanks for the help. I am a bit hesitant to take a knife to them but I m going to buy some sandpaper and hope for the best

Happened to me with Skreamizm vol. 1 as well. I was just thinking about using a drill, or is that not a good idea?

When its too wide, only usually when I purchase old grime or house records, I stick a clear redeye sticker on one side if the label and then make a hole by pushing it on to the spindle on the deck.

If your anal about how it looks, buy some new white labels and apply the same method

I just shove a biro through it.

Getting a different adaptor seemed to help with the issue. the flat ones that come with technics aren't very good
