How do i learn electronic music?

Post by Dr Fungus » Wed Mar 13, 2013 4:06 am

I have been wondering how i should be able to make real music even by using a computer. How will i learn to make music by studying both sound and notes and put it together to make a complete song? I'm sure this kind of question has been asked plenty of times. But I want to learn from something other than the internet. I am asking you if you have read any books on music theory or the laws of sound if there are any. The music theory on the internet is useless and I wouldn't mind getting a book from the library or an app for my ipad. I already am doing some music like stuff but it could be better. Let me know if you have found anything interesting!

Just start.

That's the beauty of this, you can get some basic software (a lot of freeware plugins out there) and teach yourself. Become an active member of forum communities and read a lot. Listen to a lot of music too, not just the guys at the top of the game but everybody else too, it can help a lot to not only understand what makes a track work but also what can be done to improve a track.

When you get better offer advice to other starters. Keep listening to different music, stuff outside of dub step and never stop writing. Learn to DJ it forces you to find new music. And get your tracks in your mixes as soon as possible.
