Databoi - 024e [Trap][Feedback]

Post by SignalRecon » Wed Mar 13, 2013 5:55 pm

Hey guys! Been a little while since I posted something so I decided to put up a quick trap clip I worked on recently. Starting to learn the sound a bit better I think but would love your feedback!

Very nice, I like it. Can't really recommend any changes, tune sounds solid.

Thank you Gambowl!

@Hypefiend: Anything, mix/monitor comparisons to even just general stuff about the song itself or the composition. The main reason I wanted to post something was because I hadn't posted anything in a bit and I used to hang out here alot and I've been working hard to upgrade my sound over the last 5-6 months so I'm just trying to touch base with people here to get an opinion ;) Its a good start lol, you guys didn't even tell me to kill myself once so far.

BTW: Cool name, Hypefiend sounds dope

first time i've been complimented on my alias/name hahahaha , i can give some criticism but honestly most of it will be opinionated. seems like you were trying too hard at maximalism, ease up on the uncanny gun shots , etc. would sound better if it were simpler/ or just a more concentrated interesting approach on rhythm as "trap" seems to be more perc/groove oriented kindof. really not feeling that hipitched voice. at 0:41 that long stab/hi oct/soprano range synth isn't really that cool. contour sounds kind of "trapped" i can't imagine where it could progress/modulate to, really. it sounds like it could get repetitive incredibly quick. and that other vox towards the end kind of came out of nowhere/wasn't really hinted and too unexpecting.

Thanks dude. You are right about a few things for sure. The structure of this song is definitely trapped, it cant really go anywhere from here, I got stuck after the sub peak near the end. The reason why that happened is because i think this is just me trying to "sound like" trap and figuring out where to place everything in the mix.

I'm not very fond of gun shot sounds either but I guess I threw them in there because I wasnt willing to spend alot of time designing or finding a better fill there in a kind of "trying to sound like" mind set I just thought "fuck it, that works".

I've since put this tune aside because of the structure problem to start something fresh a bit more serious that I look forward to posting up here in a few weeks with a much better structure that is being made with a full song layout in mind that i can at least play out for 2-3min (lol).

Thanks for the positivity, your levels of insight are excellent.

In the interest of disambiguation, here is the evolution of my use of the term "brother" over the past few years.

Bro, Bra, Brah, Bruv, Bruvijah, Braj, Brej, and now Bredje

so the rasta grammar police get that its a mutation of Bredrin.
Ez.
