Make a growlish synth and run it through a vocoder. Pretty heavy vocoding (:

The pitch bend which is really prevalent on the sub makes it sound a lot bigger to me too - take that into accout

Sounds good, just gotta work on the patch itself, sounds like fm

Try Massive - pick something like Scrapyard/Crude/Deep Throat etc. on bend +/- mode and a Saw or Square layered an octave underneath. Link an LFO or Macro to the WT pos and intensity of OSC 1, mess with Phase/Position mods too (link the LFO/Macro to this too) and also sine/parabolic shaper. Lots of possibilities. Then just layer a fat sub underneath and mimic any pitchbends.

That isn't it at all. That'll get you Massive's usual metallic shit. Space Lace's bass is extremely wet and clean. More than likely FM.

I reckon you can do this in massive without any vocoding to be honest

Also I reckon the pitch bend and modulation is key in a sound like this

I've also read he uses Sytrus for this sort of stuff, may have been on his Twitter.
