Question about keyboards

Hi all :)

I'm new to the forum, new to making music on computers actually, ive been playing keyboard and guitar for a couple of years now.
But for school, i got a laptop at Christmas, then i got FL and Ableton Suite 8, and i've been using them both. Am still at the figuring out how to use these things stage.
Anyway, to get to the point, i've been playing keyboard for about 8 years, and a couple of years back, for the Trinity exams, i got a big Yamaha- A PSR-S700. I really don't like it at all, i used it because i needed to and really had no idea about the differences in keyboards and whatnot.
These days, idon't play on it anymore, and was thinking of selling it and using the money for a MIDI keyboard.
But then, it occured to me that there would be no point in doing all this if i could just use the yamaha as a midi controller. I don't know if that's possible(i am a noob, as you can see) and so my question is,
is it possible to use it as a MIDI controller for FL and Ableton, or should i sell it and buy a proper controller?

If I remember correctly, the S700 has a USB out and a MIDI out, so yes, in theory you could use it as a MIDI controller. You may need to download some form of driver for it though. (Just searing S700 MIDI driver should bring a result)
I doubt you'd be able to sell it for much.
The industry standard for MIDI keyboard controllers is the M-Audio Oxygen 49 as it has 49 keys, 8 knobs and 8 faders. This would set you back about £100 new, though.
