Soft-Clipping at +0.7 db for louder master?!

Post by epesiofficial » Sat Apr 06, 2013 2:39 am

So this tune turned out amazing. The only problem is I had so many instruments that it made it hard to do a loud master, so i purposely kicked the track up to +0.7 db, making sure that the only things that surpassed 0 db were the kicks. Anything over 0 db was process by a soft-clipper (T-Racks soft-clipper) to add gentle saturation to the loud kicks instead of hard clipping. Just would like some feedback because the soft-clipping idea for mastering was completely new to me. Thanks guys, enjoy the track too, she's a beauty!
