Here to Stay (Volatil3 Remix) What genre is this?

Post by Volatil3 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 5:02 pm

this is my remix for the remix competition for here to stay by zomboy featuring lady chann, it is probably my best song so far and it would be great if you could give me some constructive criticism for me to make my music better in the future.
Also I don't know if it is dubstep/brostep or moombahcore because it is very heavy, but it is at 110 bpm.

Dig it! I feel like the kick drum is missing some high-end to give it a lil' more slap. Have you experimented with transients? I wish it was glitchier at the end and the drums were mangled rhythmically.

i don't know how to give a kick drum more high end lol, i had a low end and mid end drum at the same time, but iv never heard of a high end kick drum, could you tell me how? also i don't know what transients are, i'll have a look soon and I think your right, if I had the choice now i would change the drums at the end, make the kick louder and maybe make the second drop a bit different from the first drop.

I like it man, good job. I'm by no means an expert, but the ways I know you could add high end to a kick are through simply boosting the high frequencies through EQ, by layering two different kicks, such as one with a good high end punch that you can EQ the bass out of, then fill it in with a kick that has a good bass that you EQ the high end out so they don't clash. If that doesn't make sense this is where I learned that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsgh1dGK ... 0D&index=7

Hope that helps, and good luck with the competition!

Here to stay is one of my favs I think you did a good job. What is the sound at 00:40? Is it a perc or a synth or a synthesized perc?
