When I say abstract art, to me its the reeeeeeeeeeeeeally pointless stuff like this:
i know this topic is very subjective, but i figured it would make for an interesting discussion.

Yes but the word art doesn't necessarily mean it's any good

I don't think the ones you've posted are even close to controversial to be honest.
And yeah it should

no...if it's abstract ART, then it's art. if not, it's just abstract something. i guess everyone decides for themselves what is art and what isn't.

If you think it is, cool. If you don't, also cool. Doesn't really affect you, or anyone else, either way does it?

I disagree, not that it matters what people consider something but me not considering the thing I'm typing on a laptop doesn't make it something other than a laptop.
I think everyone gets to decide for themselves whether it's any good or not but I think there's probably some objective standard by which something either classifies as art or not.

Exactly, to me this is some of the most powerful art out there

I think a more important point is
how much value is placed on each piece.
Does a few blocks of colour warrant a $1m price tag?
At what point does a picture become worth so much. Wtf happened that made a one persons abstract interpretation of.. whatever be valued more than that of another.
Art mafia imo b2b illuminati b2b the jews.

for me art is about representation. true art represents something, feelings, world events, another person... etc.
a line drawn through the centre of a canvas means nothing, represents nothing. so for me its not art.
obviously this only applies to some abstract art.
and by no means do i hate all of it.
also laszlo i agree.
