Moving Cities as an Aspiring Artist?

Hey guys,

I'm an aspiring artist trying to figure out my plans for next year.
I'm in my senior year of high school and currently live in Ottawa, ON, Canada, and I've been accepted to a local university.
I've also been accepted to a university in Montreal, which is a 2 hour drive away.
I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to school/live next year.

I get that you might think that it's a bit of a burdon to determine where some kid should live and do next year but that's not exactly what's happening.
I'd just like to see what you guys think so I (hopefully) can have more factors to consider (if I missed any) in making an educated decision.

Ottawa's music scene kind of sucks. It's a really stretched out city with a relatively small urban center.
I have friends who I know I might not be friends with next year or in the years to come, but I also have some friends who I've been lifelong friends and it'd be kind of nice to be close to home and everything.

From what I've heard, Montreal has an awesome music scene.
I don't speak french, but I'm prepared to learn it.
I know that aspiring artists need to make sacrifices if they want to be successful, so moving to Montreal in hopes of growing in that scene is something I've been considering.

Another thing that I've been debating within myself is that, in this age, with how prevalent the internet is now, does it really matter what city a producer lives in?
I'd love to be able to play shows in Montreal, but as a producer, sort of everything I need is on the internet.

Then again, I might be wrong.

What do you guys think?

Montreal has a healthy scene & you don't really need to speak french to get by.

University > music scene.

You can start a scene, not a university
