RIP PRODUCTIONS
DJ Omar otherwise known as one half of RIP Productions and Double 99 as well as being head of Ice Cream Records is one of the main reasons garage music today is as strong as it is.
Between the years of 1995 and early 1997, Ice Cream released some all time underground classics including, 'Deep Inspiration', 'Obsessed', 'Work It', 'Club Traxs vol.1', 'The Players', and 'Move To Jersey & Many Many More.
But it was the the catalytic & legendary bassline track Rip Groove by Double 99 that the duo are most well known for Within a month of its release, RIP Groove was being played in 97% of clubs and radio stations up and down the country. Unbeknown to them at the time, Omar & Ice Cream had set a milestone that was about to change the direction of UK dance music forever.
ALTERED NATIVES
UK producer Altered Natives (a.k.a. Danny Yorke) is, as far as we’re concerned, extremely underrated. The broken-house badman has been doing his thing for over a decade now, never really paying much attention to trends and distractions around him. In recent years he has released a slew of perspiring, drum-driven house music for his own Eye4Eye imprint, Bosconi Records and Martyn’s 3024.
He has recently released the last installment in his TENEMENT YARD album series, TENEMENT YARD VOL. 3, a full-length which, much like its predecessors, features track after track of hard-edged, bass-heavy, no-frills house. It's a safe bet that anyone who likes their dance music dark and dirty won't be disappointed.
CHAOS IN THE CBD
A longstanding DJ/production duo, the brothers write and DJ emotionally sophisticated club music with an exuberant party edge. Working with motifs drawn from a historical continuum of house music which stretches back well into the eighties, the brothers fold influence abstracted from RnB, pop and beyond into the mix. Inspired by legendary figures like Todd Edwards, Moodymann, and Thomas Bangalter, they create slow burning beat ballads which pay homage to the timeless classics of dance.
PALACE
fairly new to the scene, the young London based producer has been showcasing his unique take on 2 step via The Unknown To Unknown label. Expect big things from him in 2013.
