I now wish that I was currently in a cold area just like that so that I could record weird samples from throwing objects on frozen lakes.

Not even listened but I know how good this sounds. Similar one was done a while back but they were throwing rocks or something?

That only happens when it freezes so that the ice is under tension, as far as I'm aware though. I know that most lakes in Finland don't do that.

seriously cool stuff thanks guys. We used to skip big stones over icy ponds and you could hear similar sounds to this.

I think IceVerb in Guitar Rig must emulate this somehow as you can get some pretty similar sounds out of it

That's pretty cool, never would have guessed that's the sound it would make. Then again I've never thrown golf balls at a frozen lake.

Frozen lakes are in short supply here..
That was a seriously awesome sound, i guess i need to think out of the box a bit more for doing recordings.

I recorded a really big frozen lake with hundreds of ice skaters on it once.
The whistling sound you hear is what we call 'singing ice'. Very similar to this.
