Enviromental factors included. Though a tiger could fight in water whilst a shark would be fucked on land.

Ah it's a whole different ballgame now then. A rhino or elephant would be most likely to win in a plains environment where no ambush attack could occur, but throw in some high grass or a ouple of trees and it's the domain of an ambush predator like the tiger. As an all rounder I'd be willing to put money on a polar bear

Rhinos are tough as fuck but they don't feast on the flesh of their dead competitors so lose points.

Saltwater Crocodiles have got a shout... been in more or less the same form for tens of millions of years with no need to adapt; their only weak point is getting a bit chilly every now and then and getting used as stepping stones by pixelated sprites trying to avoid a Pitfall when they close their mouths.
