Really nice stuff. Although it is difficult to have this sentimentality if you live in Nottingham, where the only decent electronic music record shop has been openly criticized by numerous artists (inc. Four Tet) for immediately putting all new releases on discogs for £50.
Still, everything in here is true. Vinyl is more fun.

well yeah, some will
we have a bit in-store
but its supporting the new emerging labels thats really important to us
and i dont mean the obvious labels
i mean UNDERGROUND, FOR THE LOVE labels
we play people records they aint heard of
and they buy things they didnt previously 'research' on-line
one less sale for the successful
means a chance for an unknown
or buy both (if u can afford)

That one, yeahh...
thing is, all the good stuff isn't even brought in to the store, its kept in the warehouse ready for the mug that overpaid for it online. All thats left is old garage nation cds and questionable dubstep circa 2010

I love this but it also makes me sad that in the second city, Birmingham, we have lost all our decent underground record shops. Bristol and Brighton, London, Manchester and Glasgow you are all so lucky having these guys representing still. Buying online is a soulless experience. Support your record shops or they will disappear!
Re: VINYL documentary (features Idle Hands, Well Rounded..
Bless Lee for keeping going and I always pop in to the shop each week but times are hard and HQ is an example of what can happen if you don't get the support from locals. I am one of only a handful of regulars so unless I ask for something specific it's not worth him ordering it in. If he hasn't got enough new stuff to cover the postage etc he won't place an order. I don't blame him, times are hard but if I didn't go elsewhere I'd miss out on loads of stuff. CD packs and second hand vinyl are what keeps HQ ticking over these days. If you live in Brum please get down there and make it worthwhile Lee stocking the best new vinyl releases!
