So basically my monitors monitors are connected to my Pioneer DJM 700 so whenever i connect them to my computer, i just use an aux cable from an empty channel on the mixer into my Imac

I get quite a bit of background noise coming through, but my question is how much of a difference does an audio interface make?

I use a Line 6 interface for my monitors and had a lot of noise issues but it turned out that I hadn't set my buffer size high enough

Audio Interface should make HUGE difference and cut down on most the "noise" that gets picked up by an internal soundcard.

I always run my monitors out from my mixer, i do have monitor out's on the AI but it has a silly HPF on so NO BASS ahAHhahahHAh drove me nuts until i figured that crap out. Actually played my first show all through the HPF so much bass got missed out on that night lol.

The problems is the low quality converters in your mac.

I use an usb interface connected to a 2-channel mixer.
