Wasnt sure if this went in sound design? Whatevs.

:t:

Looking for some tips on really making your snare stand out. No, im not talking about the 200hz boost through the roof some people are into.

Im talking about making your snare really sound snappy and clear in your mix, not just loud but hard and snappy. (<----lol)

Eq- High pass, boost wherever the punch is.
Compressor
Transient Shaper- Boost the Attack and Sustain
Reverb- If use this as a send make sure you highpass the the effects channel.

This is the way i do it, sometimes i don't use a compressor, i just have the transient shaper, depends on the samples.

layer your snares!!!! I sometimes use 3 or 4 snares at once! Maybe even a clap if it sounds good.

- Layer.

- Send it to a bus and crush the sidechained signal with an 1176 with the "ALL" button pressed and mix it into the original signal.

- EQ it to taste and just make it louder than everything else.
