Ritual SF, the #1 bass music weekly in the West Coast, brings you an epic unforgettable night at DNA LOUNGE. Complete with world class talent, stammering bass stacks, beautiful people and stiff drinks, Ritual is coming in fast and hard on June 6th.
Headlining the night is none other than EMALKAY, dubstep's wicked son, returning once again to twist out massive bassweight. If you aren't familiar, EMALKAY is responsible for WHEN I LOOK AT YOU, an anthemic tune that mixes melodic, sensual vocals and gritty sub.
But wait! There is so much more! The Ritual debut of the infamous MRK-1, one of the originators of the classic grime and dubstep sound. A key member of Virus Syndicate, MRK-1 is a party rocker. Expect nothing but the best unheard trap, bass, and speaker freaking dubplates.
Rounding out the bill is a tastemaker, an innovator, and a treat- JACK SPARROW. A man of many genres, J.Sparrow creates dark, tribal, soundsystem dubstep- infusing techno, dnb, and grime into every bar. With residencies at DMZ, Outlook Festival and touring around the world, he's become a household name for world class EDM production. One half of AUTHOR (tectonic records), with Ruckspin, their sold out events have gained great notoriety for being visual, beautiful, and deep.
Bottom line: Don't miss this special Ritual SF. It's 18 to dip, 21+ to sip and will hold a limited amount of people. It's going down quick, so get your presale tickets online before they are all gone!

- EMALKAY
(Dub Police ~ UK)
https://www.facebook.com/emalkayofficial
A brilliant and inimitable producer, Emalkay refuses to define himself by anything other than his own musical evolution. From his early years producing grime and garage, right through to 2011 and the imminent release of debut album ‘Eclipse’, he has continued to break new ground and move forward with each and every track he makes.
Away from the hub of any kind of scene, the Birmingham-based producer made things happen for himself from the start. Early experimental releases on his own Morphic Sounds label put his name on the map, and it quickly paid off as he subsequently signed to Boka. Following a string of well received 12”s for the label, he then found a home at Dub Police, and hasn’t looked back since.
Following his debut single for the label, ‘Explicit / Heroes’, things really blew up at the tail end of 2009 when the phenomenal ‘When I Look At You’ was released. Caned by tastemakers and fans alike, it catapulted Emalkay to the forefront of the expanding dubstep scene, where he has remained resolutely ever since. Since then, he has continued to draw listeners with further releases on Dub Police, as well as its sister label Storming Productions, with his latest ‘Crusader / Power Tool’ 12” again testing soundsystems and finding its way into record bags everywhere.
A handful of carefully chosen remixes for Pendulum, Faithless and Miike Snow, have opened up the ears of a whole new audience to Emalkay’s music, and as a consequence, a burgeoning DJ schedule has seen him bring his music to bigger crowds, taking in a number of festivals on the way – the last eighteen months alone has seen him tour the US and Canada twice, smash apart Glastonbury and bring mayhem to the regular Dub Police nights at the legendary fabric nightclub!
As we enter 2011, Emalkay has his debut album completed and is readying it for release on Dub Police towards the middle of this year. Summing up the last few years of his musical evolution, the album is filled with the kind of hard-hitting and innovative productions that have seen him rise to prominence. Staying true to this sound, the album is predominantly at 140bpm, but sees him experimenting with rhythmic, compositional and sonic qualities.
Unwilling to rest on his laurels however, Emalkay is already moving forward and looking to new projects, intent on continuing his evolution. With the album done, he is spending time working on new material, collaborating with vocalists and just continuing to keep things fresh in the studio.
With plenty still up his sleeve and no signing of him slowing down any time soon, 2011 looks set to be the biggest year yet for Emalkay.

- MRK 1
https://soundcloud.com/mrk1dubstep
MRK1 is one of the most established Dubstep artists around.
He was one of the first producers to pioneer the genre and is responsible for some of its first releases. Through his productions and DJing, he helped to develop Dubstep into the internationally recognised, chart topping sound that is played and sold all over the world today.
In 2004 MRK1, Plastician and Slaughter Mob released an album called “Grime” on Aphex Twins label Rephlex Records, which was one of the key releases that propelled the dubstep/grime sound into the media for the first time.
Releases on the likes of Tempa, Soulja, Vehicle, Polydor, Wall of Sound, Texture, Techonic, Earwax, Eight:FX, Terra Rhythm, Ministry of Sound, and Defected, have seen MRK1 become undoubtedly one of the genre’s most respected figure heads.
His own record label, Contagious, has even unleashed killer dubplates from the likes of Skream, Plastician, Chimpo, Sizzla, Jack Sparrow, Virus Syndicate and Oris Jay.
On top of which his latest Future:Dubstep compilations have both shot straight up the iTunes Dance and Electronic charts in both the US and UK turning the series into one of Dubstep’s most iconic.
Apart from production and mix compilations though, Mark has also DJd all over the world and played at some of the globe’s best clubs and biggest festivals including: Glastonbury (UK), Ros Kilde (Denmark), Wilsonic (Solvenia), 10 Days Off (Gent), Sonar (Barcelona), Glade (UK), and Cream (UK).
MRK1’s success behind the decks and studio buttons have subsequently led him to appear on almost every major UK radio station including Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Galaxy FM. He recently played a large part in Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s Dubstep takeover and his records are consistently supported by the stations biggest specialist DJs including Huw Stephens and MistaJam.
On top of this Mark has also been featured in major dance publications from Mixmag, to iDJ, Konwledge, and DJ Mag.

This is our resurrection. Our rebirth into a new era of creativity and acceptance of one another. With this renaissance we encourage everyone to be themselves, welcome one another, be crazy and free, and cast your differences aside, or better yet, embrace them. It is time to shed old notions and drama, and come together again with a fresh new beginning. A change we have all been longing for and a time to refocus on what is really important, and inspiring. With spring comes a new dawn for growth and expression and we couldn't be in any better company on this journey.
After every Ritual, Irie Cartel makes a donation to the Bay Area chapter of the American Red Cross. For more details on how you can make a donation please visit the following website. http://www.redcrossbayarea.org/
