Netsky Iron Heart lead - I figured it out! (Almost, help me)

I've always loved the mouthy lead in Netsky - Iron Heart, tried to recreate it in various synths but I never got close.
It would be interesting to know how to make it, comes in at about 1:13:
I tried again today and got a little closer than before, using a choir sample pitched up and down in the EXS24, some EQ and some filtering.
At least I tried. Soundcloud
I don't know where to go from here though, it doesn't sound the same but I don't know what I should add/remove/change, would appreciate some help!

Should probably have posted this in the "How do I make this sound" thread though. :S

It's got some interesting sort of feel, but I don't think it's just 1 layer. It sounds like it's comprised of some thin saw waves, some bandpassed strings, and maybe a stretched & pitch bent vocal sample.

I would go the massive route personally. Just through my own guesswork, I've come to think that netsky uses massive for a lot of his stuff.

you got the idea of the sound down, from the similar timbre, to the glide/portamento and the notes....but in my opinion, it's made from a small snippet of a sample...and that will always make it different sounding that whatever synth'd versions you try to make.

Shit that sounds kinda spot on.
I can hear another layer of some hipassed stuff that's eq'd with the pitch of the synth, too.
I guess i'll just make some more layers, then.

Yeah probably partially, but as PillowFight said it has lots of layers. I guess a few of them could be massive.

Good point mate.

It can maybe be emulated using massive alone, maybe try to reverse engineer some of the massive presets that are related to strings or something pad-esque to get a feel for that type of sound, then layer it with another instance using saws or the high passed stuff you were talking about
