Fake turntablism

I want to put some scratched vocals on a track and have been trying to use fruity scratcher combined with fruity balance to act as a crossfader and I'm not getting very far (mainly because I can't get automation to work with fruity scratcher so I have to use my mouse to scratch)
Does anyone know of any good alternative ways of achieving this?

I have CDJ100s so nope and that I don't have anywhere near enough skill to scratch. I figured because its essentially just speeding up and slowing down a waveform and cutting the volume it should be possible to do it with automation.

Tried, problem is with skill again. I want something that I can control with an automation clip because I am talentless

Cant you open VirtualDJ as a VST instrument? if you can you could probably automate it.

Try chopping the audio up in to little slices, making each unique, then automate the pitch of each slice, or pogo/pitch envelope/reverse/etc them. Automate the volume in and out and you'll get kinda close to scratching sounds.
I used to do this when I was too lazy to scratch a sample. It takes about 500 times longer than scratching though. You're best off blagging someone with Serato/Traktor to scratch the sample you want.

I think gross-beat should do the trick!
Never used it, but I think there is a dedicated preset for simulating scratching.
(Hello, fellow bassheads! Never had the urge to post something yet, since I never didn't find my answers in "hardware & production". This forum is a blessing!)

If you ask on these forums I'm sure you can get someone to record some scratches for you, there's some really talented scratchers on both forums.

I don't understand the OP. Fruity scratcher is easily automatable from inside the GUI. You just draw out the scratch pattern! Easy

Not sure about the cross fader though, I just use it for simple scratches and ape stop effects.

That's how I had it but the automation didn't affect it somehow
Did you have it as an insert on a channel or as an instrument?

Here's the DSF - FL Studio thread, whichever weirdos lurk in there may be able to help you figure out the automation bit.

I load it as an insert. The samples have to be .wav though! You were probably trying to use an mp3?

Nope I'm using an insert and a wav, it works when I use my mouse I just can't automate it
