Hi, any idea how to get the kinda bending lead sound, like in this tune? The lead kinda bends and it sounds like there's a low part making a chord or interval. Is it just portamento and vibrato, or am I missing something? I'd like to make this type of sound but can't get it right.
Starts at about 1 min:

I can't think off the top of my head how to explain it properly but I'm sure in Sylenth you basically just route the pitch of the synth to an lfo and adjust until it sounds good. That's how I get that kind of bending sound, not sure about the actual synth sound itself.

Sounds like detuning and more prominently vibrato, with the rate mapped to the key slightly.

Modulate the pitch in some way.

It sounds like there's a very small amount of portamento with fast vibrato on the lead. As far as the lower part making the chords, I would say 99% chance it's another sound layered beneath it rather than part of the lead synth itself.

Thanks, I've heard this sort of lead in a few tunes and never been able to quite get it right!
Kinda, just with a lot more wobble in the pitch I guess.
For fucks sake man change your avartar! holy shit.
EDIT: My method doesn't work as well as I thought, my bad. However, It's definitely fast vibrato and not porta.

square waves and vibrato
pretty basic stuff tbh
the chords are built from a second synth line playing the roots while the lead harmonizes with it
the bottom synth is a little more dampened, like with a high shelf or lowpassed and to me it sounds like saws+squares
This is like 99% about what notes you play and you could use almost any basic lead synth preset.

I get you, good post. I'll work on it more, thanks!

Dont mind the bad recreation of the sounds themselves, but think this is kinda the effect you want? Soundcloud
EDIT: You have to click the link and listen on soundcloud, apparently private tracks are a bitch to embed..

Yeah that's pretty close actually! Vibrato? And is it chords or just a monophonic lead?

Monophonic lead, the first part has vibrato on it, but what I think you're after is the last part where they 'bend' into each other, and that's just plain ol' portamento, in massive it was about 60% on the time

Im sorta lost with the sound and dont really get portamento that much? How is the harmonized part made? Just a different synth playing the same notes? Sorry if this is rather stupid question but i cant get it out my head now ... Thanks!
*Nevermind i figured out portamento, basically pitch glide.*

The harmonized part is just another synth yeah, playing a more basic version of the melody
