Gimme some feedback (Glitch hop/grime)

Post by zantmarcusmusic » Thu Jun 20, 2013 7:25 pm

Sup people!

I've been working on this track for quite some time. This one is heavily inspired by Culprate and sorrow.
The track is not finished yet, but the main idea is there, please listen to it and give me your opinion.
I need to know what you think about the drums, the main bass and the sub, the transitions and the whole track in general.

Please give constructive criticism :D Keep in mind that I've been making music for only a year

Thanks in advance guys!

Nice idea however i couldn't really hear any grime element in the track. I'm guessing you put grime as Sorrow has produced some grime recently with Asa

Hey,
Some nice elements in there, especially the eerie background stuff. Panning is good but I felt a little confused by it. Maybe that could be a little more subtle. Not familiar with the genre, so I don't know about the drum beat.
The drums in the intro seemed a little random though to be honest :)
I really like the build up to the drop and that electric sounding synth is very nice!

Great job on trying something that is a bit different. Keep up the good work!

Cheers,
Piesy

Thanks for he feedback guys!
I've been working some more on the track:
-I decided to take away the reese bass and give more chill to the tune.
-I also worked some more on the percussion, in order to give a grime feel to it

Please give me your opinion

I think this is a big improvement.

Couple of bits that you could still polish, there is some weird glitches around 1:15 mark, they don't sound intentional maybe because of the delay going into the breakdown section? Here and at 2:35 the delay seems a bit much. My guess is that the delay is an insert effect when it might sound more subtle as a send.(I may be wrong).
I remember the drums being a bit un-necessarily messy before, much better now.
Your sub bass sounds good, but I think less is more, it can go way down in volume and still be really floor shaking on good speakers....check out other similar chilled songs - lots of bass but not really audible.

Keep it up mate, this song is really coming along nicely.

Cheers,
Piesy

Hey I actually listened to this track before I posted my own, noticed you were the same person that replied to mine, so thanks again!

I think it definitely comes across as haunting, which I like. I think the salt shaker or whatever was a great choice. I love the part starting at 1:19, and I think the end especially (1:35) is begging for some playing with the kick or other percussion (think Phil Collins In the Air Tonight when the drums come).
