Hey guys,

I'm purchasing a desk in a couple of months that has 2 built in 4U racks, i have a sampler witch is 3U and wondered if there was any way to fit a 3U piece off gear into 4U rack. From what i can gather 4U racks are a couple of inches bigger than a 3U one, so i wasn't sure if you could get a empty 4U rack box that i could slide the sampler into, or even attach some 4U size rack fittings to the edge of the sampler, to fit in the 4U rack?

Cheers in advance!

Depends on how many holes the rails have, normally they should have at least 2 holes per 1u. So you can fit in 4x 1U, 2x 2U or 1x 3U and 1U. But yes, you can fit it in.

EDIT: assuming the sampler has rack ears.

Yea man, I'd assume you should be fine. I have a 10U rack case and a 12U desktop rack frame and I've had all kinds of combinations of gear in them....as Project EX said...assuming the sampler has rack ears.

Cheers guys appreciate the responses! So the 3U and 4U just corresponds to how many pieces off gear i can fit in the rack, not the size off the rack it's self.

Sound!
