Ultraspatial came up with this idea in the Hatcha compilation thread.

We all want new tunes by certain producers who are a bit out of the limelight these days. Specifically, the discussion in the other thread mentioned Search & Destroy, Toasty, Moving Ninja, Slaughter Mob, Milanese, Elemental and Luke Envoy. It seems a fairly common opinion that these guys wrote a lot of the finest tunes of the dubstep scene, yet none of them have released anything for ages. Some of them have explicitly quit making music, at least in the vein of their previous aliases, Toasty for example.

Of course, not releasing tunes is 100% the artist's prerogative. We aren't entitled to any new music, and shouldn't act like we are. However, it's not impossible they might have a few finished, or nearly finished bits lying about, which, if we ask nicely enough, they could be inclined to release. Ideally, in a compilation album.

I'll be honest, personally, I have zero experience getting something like this together, but I know quite a few guys on here have open lines of communication with established DJs and producers. If we could reach out on behalf of the forum, and be willing to do as much of the legwork as possible between us, then perhaps releasing such a compilation isn't entirely unrealistic.

I mean we all know he's Addison Groove now but i would love to hear some classic deep shit he used to do, not this watered down footwork shit he's making now.

Sounds like a nice idea. Maybe start a petition or something? If enough they see enough fans are requesting it, at the very least they could respond with a no if they're not into it. Is there precedent for something like this in music?


Moving Ninja did release a tune on an Aquatic Lab Comp recently.

nah, petitioning is lame and makes it seem like we are entitled to own tunes of theirs

Would need someone with past experience to even really get this idea to paper, wonderful idea but need be be completely solid first in what sort of aim and the intentions of releasing this set of tunes.

Definitely a great idea, especially Headhunter, but who has all these contacts and does anyone personally know any of these producers?

...^someone here I hope...come on. I know for a fact some of the older DSF heads talk to producers now and then...I thought.

My friend's dad is Micky Finn, and he has a lot of connections, but it's mostly bro-producers so I doubt we could get any real contacts to the producer's we're on about. He does know Benga though, but he's too busy making brostep now.

Then again Benga probably has some old connections now that I think about it.

Well...you can message producers directly through their Facebook fan pages...if they all have one.
