Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
Hello! Back with a new, free samplepack.
For a birthday present to myself (July 6), I bought an induction coil pick up from Jez Riley French (http://hydrophones.blogspot.co.uk - the same guy who built my hydrophone). It arrived on my birthday so I spent sometime recording. Coil pick ups 'pick up' the sound of electronic fields in various devices... and as it turns out, they sound pretty cool.
So I made a sample pack: http://www.mad-ep.com/MadEP_VoltageFields.zip
Use 'em to:
- dirty-up synth patches
- create ambiences
- chop 'em up for glitch FX
- timestretch, reverb, bounce & reverse to create your own universe.
- many other ideas
(note : these are all mono... but the recordings change over time... so one could take a 40 second recording, chop into 2 x 20 second clips, hard pan & overlap and TA-DA! instant stereo recording).
Have fun, and enjoy the birthday present to myself that I give back to you!

Happy Birthday, err... thanks for the present?
Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
Really interesting. That's quite different than the usual sample pack! Also, hope you had a grand b-day.

Re: Voltage Fields (FREE DOWNLOAD)
Glad so many people are digging this from the get-go...
It certainly is not the run-of-the-mill sample pack, but I figure those bases are already covered. My interest lies off the beaten path... These packs won't always be for everyone, but if approached creatively enough, there should always be plenty of uses for 'em.
For instance, in addition to using these new samples to dirty up synth patches, it just occurred to me that layering em with drum hits (and maybe jointly compressing 'em on a sub buss) could be a fun alternative to bitcrushers, etc.
I've got lots more ideas... I am only limited by the very little free time I have, but I do promise more in the future.
Have fun!

^I was thinking of reverse sidechainning them to drum hits! : )

Any chance of a photo of the coil and the hydrophone if you have time?

Coil Pick Up mic:

Hydrophone mic:

Well done peeps =
Less than a week and over 100 downloads. Not bad for a seriously weird sample pack.
Glad you lot are having fun with em.
